Terms and Conditions

Please read these Terms & Conditions before booking an e-bike with RYED. By making a booking, you agree to the terms below.

Age Restrictions

By law, you must be 14 years or older to ride an electric bike.

Anyone aged 14–17 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times during the hire.

Identification

A valid form of photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence, is required for each booking.

The person making the booking is the hirer and is responsible for complying with these Terms & Conditions.

Payment

All pre-booked self-guided and guided e-bike hires must be paid in full in advance at the time of booking.

Refundable Deposit

A £250 refundable deposit per booking is payable on the day of your hire.

The deposit will be refunded once all bikes and equipment have been returned in satisfactory condition.

You are responsible for any damage, loss or repair costs outside normal wear and tear. If these costs exceed the deposit, you will be responsible for the additional amount.

Arrival & Return Times

Please arrive 15 minutes before your booked start time. This allows time for us to fit and adjust your bike, provide a safety briefing and give you a short test ride.

We operate to booked time slots, so unfortunately we cannot extend your hire if you arrive late. Late arrival or failure to attend may be treated as a cancellation and no refund will be issued.

Bikes must be returned at the agreed time. Additional charges may apply for late returns. No refund is available if you choose to return your bike early.

Cancellations & Changes

If RYED cancels your booking due to unsafe weather or circumstances outside our control, we will offer either a full refund or an alternative date.

If you cancel more than 48 hours before your booking, you will receive an 80% refund, with a 20% cancellation fee retained.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of your booking are non-refundable.

Bookings can be amended up to two days before your arrival. Please get in touch as soon as possible if your plans change and we will always try to be flexible where we can.

Refunds can only be made to the original payment method.

Safety

Before setting off, we will give you a safety briefing and an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the bike, controls and gears.

Helmets are provided and recommended, although wearing a cycle helmet is not currently a legal requirement for standard cycling in the UK. Hi-vis clothing is also available.

You must follow the Highway Code when using public roads and respect the Countryside Code when using trails and bridleways.

You are responsible for riding safely and within your own ability. We reserve the right to refuse hire if we believe someone is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or is otherwise unable to safely operate an e-bike.

Bikes & Equipment

Please check that you are happy with your bike before departure. If you have any concerns about its operation or condition, let a member of the RYED team know immediately.

Rear racks are intended for light goods only and must not be used to carry another person.

Our bikes must not be used for racing, stunt or trick riding, or in any way that could cause unnecessary damage or risk.

Breakdowns & Punctures

If you experience a mechanical problem, don't worry — backup assistance is available and we can arrange a replacement bike or collection where necessary.

Puncture repair kits are provided. You are normally responsible for returning the bike following a puncture, but if this isn't possible, contact us and we can arrange collection. An additional collection fee may apply.

Leaving Your Bike Unattended

Whenever a bike is left unattended, it must be securely locked using the lock provided.

The lock should secure the bike through the frame and wheel to a permanent, secure object.

You are responsible for loss or theft where a bike has not been adequately secured.

Health & Fitness

You should be in suitable general health and choose a ride or tour appropriate for your ability.

Please let us know before setting off about any medical condition or medication that could affect your ability to safely ride an e-bike.

Liability & Insurance

Cycling carries an inherent level of risk. By hiring an e-bike, you acknowledge these risks and agree to ride responsibly and within your capabilities.

RYED will take reasonable steps to provide bikes that are safe and fit for purpose but cannot accept responsibility for circumstances outside our reasonable control.

We recommend having appropriate personal insurance covering areas such as accident, medical expenses, personal belongings and cancellation.

You remain responsible for your own belongings throughout the hire period.

Photography & Video

We occasionally take photographs or video during tours or around our premises for use on our website and social media.

If you would prefer not to be photographed or filmed, simply let a member of the team know.

Force Majeure

RYED cannot be held responsible for delays, cancellations or failure to provide services where this is caused by circumstances reasonably outside our control, including severe weather, flooding, fire, industrial action, public health restrictions or other exceptional events.
